Last Day in Beijing

Today I planned to see more of the Forbidden City because I don’t think I saw it all last time.

I got there and the queues were really long and there was no way I was going to queue to go in. However the big bonus was that to the side of the City was a park called Zhongshan. It had some great views as well as some quirky ones like a random dodgems set up in side an historic building in the middle of the park.

I really liked seeing the elderly doing there morning Tai Chi exercises.

Leaving the park I walked past Tiananmen Square to the China Railway Museum to take some photos for a friend. It was an interesting place, however it only had one full size train which I was not expecting, the rest were photos, parts and rides.

From here I went to a more built up part of the city to look at a huge shopping mall and the business part. I was amazed to see how absolute huge everything was.

Tomorrow I board a train at 9am, which I am hoping will be one of those bullet ones to YangShuo County in the Guang Xi province which will have some amazing mountainous views. The 10 hour train journey should give me chance to see some more of China on the way.

What I learned today:

  1. Somethings do not culturally transfer like the I love NY t-shirt ( see the final image in the gallery above )

The areas of life I am most interested in are great design, the golden ratio, minimalism, Pareidolia (faces in everyday objects), micro living and finally I will be searching for remarkable human beings who use the power of their mind to achieve amazing effects.
