In Vancouver I stayed in a great place called Hostelling International Downtown. To stay I had to pay for a 3 month membership, which still meant the Hostel was cheap.
This hostel is very sociable and most definitely one of the best I have stayed in. It has a games room, a TV room, a library, a social area and a nice kitchen. They have really thought about the needs of the traveller.
Today I catch an overnight train to Jasper and am going to stay in another Hosteling International place.
