From Vancouver to Jasper

Yesterday I arrived in a very cold Jasper. Apparently it is -17 degrees outside at the moment.

The journey from Vancouver to Jasper took 20 hours and as you can see from the photos the views were pretty amazing. The trains in Canada have a Sky Carriage which lets you look out over the top of the train. This really helped see some amazing scenery.

The people on the train were all so friendly, the lady who sold me the ticket stated she didn’t know why people are more friendly and talk more on trains than they do on planes, but on the first leg this was definitely the case. I am already looking forward to my 3 night second leg from Jasper to Toronto which I catch at 5:30pm on Wednesday.

I currently do not know what I am going to do for the 4 days I am here. The SkyTram which takes visitors up the mountains closed for winter on the 1st of November, which I have to say seems really odd because it is a busy time. I can get a shuttle into the main town at 8:20am in the morning, which I may do tomorrow or the day after. The receptionist stated that quite a few guests have cars and nip into town, so I may be able to score a lift from them and catch the 6:30pm shuttle bus back.

I can also look around the hostel area on foot, which I may do later if I can not get to town.

The areas of life I am most interested in are great design, the golden ratio, minimalism, Pareidolia (faces in everyday objects), micro living and finally I will be searching for remarkable human beings who use the power of their mind to achieve amazing effects.
