The Maru hostel was so much better than the first hostel I stayed in Seoul.
It was not perfect, the owner and only person on reception did not appear until 11am and that was if you were lucky and the bathroom didn’t feel finished. Other than that this place had a relaxed feel with everyone just getting along. It reminded me of going to friends digs when I was a student.
Here I met an interesting Geordie guy who has been traveling for year and a half. He had strong views on religion and was a really interesting person to speak to.
Maru is situated in a really quirky area with lots of little interesting design shops and nice restaurants. My favourite place was little comic book cafe opposite, it was really different and although it did not have any english material it was nice place to chill and read my book.
Today I checked out to go and stay in a buddhist temple about an hour an half away from Seoul that requires a couple of bus journeys to reach it. I am looking forward to the experience of the temple alot more than I am the bus rides. When I come back to Seoul I going to staying the Gangnam area of Seoul for a couple of nights before going off again to explore Taoism.
I could not plan to visit Gangnam and not leave you with a music video inspired by the area. Over to you Psy!:
